As a young black man growing up, I remember when my mom sat me down and had a conversation with me. She talked to me about the danger I might face when being pulled over, that while shopping in a store I may be watched or followed around the store, she talked to me about while in school I would have to work twice as hard to succeed and she also discussed with me when in the work place I could face trouble. All because I’m A BLACK MALE. I have often wondered if the same conversations are had with white parents and their teen sons?
