Reset Windows Network To Fix Internet Connection Problem – Resolve Socket Errors, Reset TCP-IP, Renew IP, Flush DNS And Perform Network Device Cleanup Via Command Prompt or PowerShell

There are two methods to fix internet connectivity issues in Windows computer or laptop;

Method 1: Via Network Reset in Windows 10 Settings

This network fix will reset WiFi adapters and remove your VPNs, WiFi passwords, and virtual switches. Type “network reset” in the Windows Search Bar or in the Settings and click “Open”;

Click “Reset now” button. This will restart your computer, hence make sure you have already saved all of your data and closed all windows, tab or apps including browsers.

Method 2: Executing Commands via PowerShell or Command Prompt as an Administrator

Type “powershell” in the search box and click “Run as administrator”. Do NOT restart your computer until you are done running all of these commands one-by-one in the same order as mentioned below;

This command recovers the computer from any socket errors that may have arisen from settings corruption or malware;

netsh winsock reset

To reset your TCP/IP settings, run this command;

netsh int ip reset

Next, renew Windows’ IP address configuration via this command;

ipconfig /renew

To flush your PC’s DNS settings, execute this command;

ipconfig /flushdns

And finally, perform a full network device cleanup which includes removing all of your networking devices, VPN client software, and virtual switches. Here’s the command;

netcfg -d

Restart your computer to see if your internet connectivity is back. If the issue persists, try turning off your router and then turning it back. And finally, if internet connectivity is not restored, replace physical network cards i.e. Wifi, ethernet cables or switches.

Call your ISP or Internet Connection Provider to seek help if nothing works.
